Example Message
If your computer has up-to-date virus protection and you do not know the recipient that is telling you that you have a virus, it is likely that the message you recieved is due to someone else being infected that spoofed your email address.
If you are unsure about your virus protection or if you might be infected it is good to play it safe and check your computer for the virus in question. NOTE: DO NOT use any suggested detection attachments or links included in the email you received. Instead update your virus protection software and run a full scan of your computer or try one of the online free virus scanning services such as Symantec's Security and Virus Check. If no virus is found after scanning your system your computer should be safe and the email you recieved is likely a result of a spoof.
